Should you start creating content? Here’s what I learned after my first 300 posts.

There are millions of health professionals in the U.S. and around the world who spend a majority of their time with direct patient care. This includes psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and counselors.

As a clinician in a large organization or private practice, outreach time is often a luxury or part of extra duties. That’s why many organizations hire outreach professionals as part of their mental health teams.

I believe providers themselves also need to be involved in the outreach mission. Over the last two years, the pandemic and resulting mental health impacts have made your outreach more critical than ever. Why not dedicate 10–20% of your week to sharing your knowledge with the broader community?

So where do you start?

How much quality content did you share in the last 6-months?

Start with the one piece of advice you share with all of your clients. Open up Canva and jot it down in black and white, keep it simple. If you’re adventurous, record a 7–20 second video with some trending music. The biggest thing is to just start creating. TikTok, IG Reels, and YouTube Shorts are all great vehicles to share your message.

At A Better Love Project, we’ve created well over 300 pieces of content but it all starts with one post. We reach thousands of people every day but there are billions of people connected on social.

That means you have to step up. Disparities in access to health information aren’t going away by themselves, it’s time to show up and share what you know.

Let me know if you want any help.
